Dr. Bello is a practicing board-certified rheumatologist who is the Chief Medical Officer of Phronesis Group. His role is toleverage his medical, pharmaceutical, and public health expertise to clients looking to enter emerging healthcare markets.

Along with his duties at Phronesis, Dr. Bello is the director of rheumatologic research at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute. He is alsoa board member of the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute Research Foundation providing physician leadership in medical research.He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago.
Dr. Bello earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicineresidency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. He went on to complete his Fellowship in Rheumatology at DukeUniversity Medical Center, Durham NC. He also earned a Masters in Health Science in Biometry at the Duke University School ofMedicine. In 1996, Dr. Bello was awarded the Senior Fellow Award from the American College of Rheumatology. In 2006, heearned an additional board certification from the American Board of Pain Medicine.
In 1998 Dr. Bello joined G.D. Searle as a Medical Director in Global Medical Affairs responsible for the Phase IIIb/IV clinical trialprogram for the COX-2 Inhibitors and as a member of the Celecoxib Commercialization Task Force. In 2001, he returned toclinical practice but continued to provide strategic medical affairs consulting to many companies in the arthritis space.
Dr. Bello has held multiple positions with the American College of Rheumatology, including as a member of the PainManagement Task Force. He is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. Dr.Bello has served his country as a Commissioned Corp officer (rank: commander) in the U.S. Public Health Service assigned to theU.S. Coast Guard.
