Robert Crone is a Phronesis Executive Senior Advisor in the Global Healthcare Centers of Excellence. Dr. Crone’s work hasfocused on helping domestic academic health centers, medical schools, universities, and private health care entities andinvestors to develop and implement global strategies and programs, as well as assisting assessment and accreditation bodiesinterested in globalizing their missions and operations. He also works with healthcare and education centers around the worldto develop strategies to support undergraduate and graduate medical education and to develop partnerships with the world’sleading academic institutions. He works with existing institutions and centers of excellence aspiring to become globallyrecognized through enhancing their mission, programs and operations in clinical care, teaching and research. He believesstrongly that there is an opportunity to create and continually improve global standards for delivering healthcare, education andbiomedical research for the benefit of the communities they serve.
Dr. Robert Crone is a global healthcare strategist shaping world-class medical programs and institutions. His leadership drives innovation and excellence across healthcare and education systems worldwide.
Prior to working with Phronesis, Dr. Crone established Strategy Implemented, Inc. where he continues to be recognized as aglobal healthcare thought leader. Prior to Strategy Implemented, Dr. Crone founded and built Huron Consulting Group’s GlobalHealthcare Practice from 2007 to 2012. Prior to Huron, he served as Founding President, Chief Executive Officer for HarvardMedical International, Inc., a not-for-profit subsidiary corporation of Harvard Medical School (HMS) focusing on inter-nationalprogram development. He also served as Clinical Professor and Dean for International Programs for HMS. Dr. Crone also servedas Senior Vice President for Operations at The People-to-People Health Foundation, Inc., (Project HOPE) and as a professor andadministrative leader at both Children’s Hospital Boston (Harvard Medical School) and Seattle Children’s Hospital (University ofWashington School of Medicine).
Dr. Crone has led consulting engagements focusing on international strategy development and implementation at many of thetop-ranked US and Canadian-based academic medical centers, medical schools and universities leading to new and sustainableprograms and revenue streams. He has also worked closely with the US and international healthcare regulatory, assessment andaccreditation communities to expand their programs and standards beyond their traditional constituencies. Lastly, he hasworked around the world, particularly in the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America in countries such as the UAE, KSA,Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, India, China, Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Poland, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, Ireland, as well asBrazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad & Tobago to develop new, sustainable and profitable healthcare and healtheducational and research programs and facilities, including feasibility studies, business and program planning andimplementation. He has also worked closely with ministries of health as well as existing hospitals and schools in both the publicand private sectors to help them to achieve programmatic and operational excellence and achieve global prominence.
